Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) is
pleased to host the Pasefika LotuMoui Health Symposium 2006. The
two-day event will target leaders of churches, religious and
faith groups of Pacific communities in the Counties Manukau
District. The inspiration for LotuMoui arose from the many
community meetings where Pacific peoples expressed the
importance for organisations and agencies such as CMDHB to work
alongside Pacific churches to have effective reach and
connection with Pacific individuals and families. |

Strengthen
partnerships between CMDHB and Pacific church, religious and
faith leaders in the Counties Manukau District to work
together to improve the health status and wellbeing of
Pacific peoples;

Inform
Pacific church leaders about key health developments,
programmes and strategic priorities which will impact on
Pacific peoples in Counties Manukau;
-
Share
innovations and successes of churchbased healthy lifestyle
programmes which have resulted as part of the LotuMoui
Health Grant; and,
-
Agree
commitments to improving health outcomes for Pacific young
people and their families in Counties Manukau.
SYMPOSIUM THEME
Healthier Lifestyles: Planning for the next generation of
Pacific peoples.
BREAKOUT SESSIONS
During
the Symposium, delegates will be able to discuss key issues
related to leading healthier lifestyles. Delegates will also
be asked to consider church-based solutions to addressing
lifestyle issues.
YOUTH STREAM
13 years – 24 years
Young
people will have the opportunity to represent their churches
in a youth stream which will run parallel to the main
Symposium proceedings. They will discuss and debate
lifestyle issues for Pacific young people in South Auckland
and feedback their solutions to the wider delegation.

Dinner
The Symposium dinner will be held at 7.00pm on
Wednesday, 22nd November 2006 at the Telstra Clear
Pacific Events Centre.
Dinner tickets will cost $30
(excl. GST)
per person.
